If you have ever considered hosting your own podcast series, it is most likely because you have heard how effective these are for traffic generation, list building, and increasing your overall visibility online. However, you may not have realized that podcasts are excellent for connecting with your colleagues and other business acquaintances as your business grows.
When I made the decision to start podcasting it was purely for selfish reasons. I wanted to generate massive traffic to my sites and build my list because I had seen others do this over the past few years. I set about the task of finding people to interview so that I could have someone new each week throughout the year.
The first month was very easy as I called upon friends to ask them to be a part of my new online venture. Once they had all been my guests I knew it would take more effort to continue. Then the hard work began as I had to make a list of who I knew that would be of interest to my audience.
Doing this has already increased my traffic significantly and my list is growing faster than ever before. But I am also amazed at the relationships I am building with people whom I did not know even knew who I was before I began work on this project.
I have been networking and reaching out to people I had been previously unable to get myself to contact. I have learned many lessons from this, and will continue to grow and learn throughout the remainder of my life. I?ve learned that people truly want to help us and see us succeed, and that we must extend our hand if we wish to be acknowledged. I have also learned that I have much more in common with other online entrepreneurs than I ever realized.
I highly recommend that you begin interviewing your friends and colleagues for a podcast series. It?s simple to set up and you can use the free pod press plugin to add the audio to your blog. Then start a free account at iTunes and connect your blog with them so that new prospects from around the world will be able to find you through searching your keyword phrases that describe what you have to offer.
I have always believed that allowing people to hear your voice is the next best thing to meeting them in person, and podcasting is the best way I have found for connecting and building lasting relationships.
